1957: Take-off of the Fishmeal Industry.
 
1961: Foundation of the Fishing Consortium by Luis Banchero, grouping 92.5% of the Peruvian industry of fishmeal.
 
1968: First shipments to the Peruvian terminals, located in Rotterdam, Holland and to the U.S.A. to the ports of Wilmington, N.L. and Stockton,CA.
 
1980: Peru becomes the largest world manufacturer of Canned Sardines.
In one of the carried out shipments, the world record was broken when embarking in a ship of 11,000 MT 850,000 cases of Canned Sardines.
 
1985: Anchovy population starts its recovery.
 
1990: Peru becomes again the largest World producer of fishmeal.
 
1998: The Worst Niño in Peruvian history.
 
 
     
1952-53: Sale of the first lot of Peruvian fishmeal to Europe with destination UK.
 
1953: Opening of the European market for Peruvian bonito-tuna. First sale made to Pelling Stanley and Green Ltd., U.K., a division of Unilever, under the John West brand.
 
1959: First direct sale of fishmeal to Yugoslavia, of 5,000 M.T.
 
1968: First sale of fishmeal to the Democratic Republic of Germany, of 100,000 M.T.
1971: First sale to the People´s Republic of China, of 200,000 M.T. of fishmeal and 25,000 M.T. of Fishoil.
 
1972: First sale of fishmeal to Cuba.
 
1976: Superintendentes Internacionales S.A. is formed. (SUPERIN)
 
1977: Sotomayor S.A. is formed. (CARSOTO)
 
1977: Appointment as Agents in Peru of "Federal Marine", of South Africa.
 
 
1978: Foundation of "Productos Pesqueros Peruanos S.A." by Carlos Sotomayor
 
1978: The first shimpment in volume of sardines in tomato begins , with 250,000 cases, in the Southgate ship of 5,000 MT of capacity.
 
1979: First sale of defatted and concentrated fishmeal.
 
 
 
1982: Sotomayor S.A. is appointed as Agents in Peru, for Kurt A. Becher, Germany.
 
 
1989: Manuel Sotomayor is elected as President of the National Fisheries Association.
 
1990: Alliance with Pacific Oil.
 
 
 
1993: Manuel Sotomayor is awarded the Medal of Merit in Fisheries.
 
1994:The Group achieves its record production of 124,000 M.T. of fishmeal in 6 plants.
1998: Appointment of Manuel Sotomayor as President of CONFIEP
 
1999: Carlos Sotomayor is awarded the Medal of Merit in Fisheries.
 
1999: Appointment of Manuel Sotomayor as representative of the President of
Peru in ABAC.
 
2000: The sale of all the fishmeal factories of the group is completed, in order to concentrate all efforts in commercialization.
